What insurance do you take?
This practice does not accept insurance. It is a fee-for-service practice. The prices of appointments are clearly listed in the Services and Pricing section and payment is made at the time of the consultation/visit.
A receipt with an ICD-10 code will be provided for the patient to submit to insurance. Medicare will not likely reimburse for these services. Coverage by other plans is inconsistent. Most HSA plans will cover a portion of the a la carte visits.

Can I get my prescriptions through Mindful Family Medicine?
There will be no Controlled Substance prescriptions written out of this practice. The harm that long-term use of opioids, benzodiazepines and sleep medications has caused patients is staggering. Chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety will be addressed with physical, dietary and stress-management strategies.
Chronic medications such as blood pressure pills and diabetic medications can be prescribed, but in most cases should be continued through any specialists currently involved for ease of insurance coverage and monitoring bloodwork coverage.
Where is your office?
There is no brick and mortar office at this time. Visits will be performed at the patient's home or virtually (online video). For a Meet and Greet, it is preferred that a comfortable, convenient location be agreed upon - such as a park, museum, coffee shop. For sensitive conversations, a more private location or virtual visit will be arranged.
Will you come to my area?
The service area will be 5 miles drive/15 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock (the post office). Unpaved roads or difficult drives may necessitate converting to a different location or a virtual visit. Visits outside this service area could be arranged for an extra fee to cover transport time. This will be clearly agreed upon by phone or email before the visit is scheduled.
How will you do blood draws and other tests?
Labs will be ordered by Dr. Jain. They will need to be drawn by Quest, Labcorp or at a Hospital. Payment for these tests will be made by the patient.
Basic urine dips and glucose checks can be done at your home if indicated and will be included in the package prices.
Specialized tests of saliva (for cortisol levels), stool (for microbiome analysis), urine (for toxic metals) can be performed with kits sent to your home. Prices will be available before ordering the test. Note: whenever possible, Dr. Jain will use her clinical skills for diagnosis, and only order tests if absolutely necessary.
Some doctors will be able to draw bloodwork as requested by Dr. Jain, but they are under no obligation to do so and will need the patient sign a payment waiver in case the lab is not covered by insurance.
Xrays will not typically be necessary in this type of treatment plan.
What if I'm not sure I can afford to see Dr. Jain?
Dr. Jain will be offering community classes for $0-10. You can get non-personalized information from those sessions. Locations, times and subjects will be posted on this site.
Schedule a Meet and Greet for $80. At the end of the appointment, Dr. Jain will let you know what level of care is appropriate for you. Dr. Jain may be able to recommend a different provider in the community who participates in insurance depending upon your history.
